Tantec Electrified To Showcase Plasma Systems For Battery Manufacturing at The Battery Tech Expo 2025

Battery Tech Expo – March 26th and 27th 2025

Tantec UK are excited to announce their return to exhibit at the busy and exciting Battery Tech Expo at the Silverstone Circuit in March 2025.

Exhibiting in 2022 and having a strong number of visitors the stand, our team have decided to attend once again, especially now the event is a full two day show that brings in visitors from across the UK and Ireland as well as professionals from Europe and beyond.

Chris Howey, MD at Tantec UK is excited to announce the show saying “When we first attended the battery show, it seemed a growing market but not one we had significant engagement with. However, since 2022 there have been a number of successful treatment systems in to battery manufacturers for Tantec in the UK and in Europe. It feels right letting visitors know that this is an important market for our technology“

Future Of Battery Technology

A lot of focus for batteries has been automotive batteries, coupled with hydrogen fuel cell technology or industrial plant decarbonising, but the battery industry and technologies in general are key for many sectors from personal products like phones and laptops, medical devices, national energy storage and many more.

With academic and industrial research taking place at places like the UK Battery Industrialisation Centre (UKBIC) in neighbouring Coventry, the UK is pushing to gain its place as a world leader in the technology and secure onshore manufacturing.

Recent problems within the industry such as the closing of Northvolt factory, problems with charging infrastructure and uptake of EVs propped up by fleet buyers do raise questions about the security of battery technology here in the UK, however with ambitious government plans for net zero and an emerging supply chain for the technology, it almost seems inevitable that something must happen, with the alternative being to buy in from overseas which seems a huge wasted opportunity.

Recent publication on netzero by the Society for Motor Manufacturers and Traders demonstrates some of the supply chain and actions taking place today, alongside plans laid for the future of the industry. You can read more about that here: Race to Zero: Powering Up Britain’s EV Supply Chain

Tantec Technology In Battery Manufacturing

As an emerging market with significant amount of patents and intellectual property associated, a lot of manufacturing processes are hidden behind closed doors in large factories. But for those visiting such factories, Tantec equipment can be seen in several locations.

Installations include bonding of battery cooling fins and pipe work, sealing of battery packaging and cleaning of terminals to improve wire bonding. Materials treated range from powders and metal web materials to moulded polymers and films.

Tantec offer a wide range of equipment, including corona treatment, atmospheric plasma and vacuum plasma – all applicable for the battery industry.

Recent advances in surface treatment technology such as the SpinTEC 30 and SpinTEC 150, along with traditional technologies like corona treaters are both being used in the industry as manufacturers look for high performance, environmentally friendly systems to prepare materials. In a modern and fast paced industry like battery manufacturing its interesting to see engineers maximising the use of high performance technologies and the reluctance to use hazardous chemicals and processes.
