Automated and Repeatable Surface Pretreatment

Performance improvements aside, using plasma and corona for its ability for easy integration in to automated production lines is one of the best reasons to use the technology. Simple operation by PLC or other controllers allows for a repeatable process giving consistency to any manufacturing process and traceability by software, alarm outputs and simple maintenance make the systems perfect for every day use.

Automated Systems

Automated Systems

Commonly our systems are robot mounted, or machine fed to have very high repeatability and consistency. Other automated systems might be conveyors, rotary tables or bowl-fed lines. Depending on the application, we can supply equipment for integration, or to work along side a line builder for large, complex lines.

Alternatively, we can supply stand alone, turn key automated systems for more simple applications. Either way, repeatability is key!

Alternative to Manual Preparation

Some of our customers have been manually abrading, applying primers or wiping parts since they began manufacturing. These tried and tested techniques work and especially for low volume, can be very cost effective and sensible.

They are susceptible to operator variations over time and as production increases, they can become much less sensible.

Using Plasma and Corona to prepare and prime your material with an automated system removes any doubt and variability, providing a consistent and repeatable result.

Repeatable, Low Service Equipment

Unlike techniques such as automated abrasive pads, or primer dosing, Plasma and Corona have only power and perhaps compressed air as daily consumables.

Often a yearly service is all that’s required to keep peak performance so changes to the treatment over time isn’t a concern.

Alarm and running outputs from systems keep operators alerted to any stoppage, down time or issues immediately to give confidence that parts are treated every time.

Non-Contact And Inline Treatment

Plasma and Corona treatment, as well as Ozone treatment and Electrical Leak Detection are generally non-contact systems.

This means parts aren’t damaged and don’t cause any changes such as part warping or colour changes.

Treatment and quality machines are often hidden within automated cells and to many look just like ‘magic’ boxes, improving materials.
