Atmospheric Plasma

Atmospheric Plasma is a fantastic tool for treatment of almost any material and can be easily integrated in to existing production lines and automation to give repeatable and reliable surface treatment which will clean and enhance your products surface to give improved adhesion of glues, inks and coatings and many other processes.

The PlasmaTEC-X generator series powers all systems. The purpose built modular generator can be paired with individual nozzles for the PlasmaTEC-X OEM and Multi series or combined with rotating head systems for the SpinTEC series which can treat up to 150mm from a single system.

The standard PlasmaTEC-X series of systems can also be combined to create application specific systems such as the ProfileTEC, SyrinTEC and NeedleTEC for treatment of extrusions, syringes and needles.

You can also combine these systems with the ZeroNOxTEC which produces a pure plasma that creates zero NOx gases which can be created with other systems. The ZeroNOx system generates a slightly different plasma that can be more powerful in certain applications and improves safety without the need for extraction.

The Atmospheric Plasma Process

Atmospheric Plasma is created within a small nozzle that gives a plasma discharge blown from the end. Plasma is made by subjecting a cortex of compressed air within the nozzle to high voltage. As the air passes through the high voltage the highly energetic plasma is made and materials are treated by passing the part through the plasma discharge.

The energetic plasma gas can use air or the tailored gas mixture produced by the ZeroNOxTEC system and while using high voltage, the systems are all supplied using a standard wall power supply and operates between 400w and 1500w depending on the model.

Tantec PlasmaTEC-X OEM

PlasmaTEC-X OEM

The single nozzle PlasmaTEC-X OEM is the most simple and affordable system to use the PlasmaTEC-X generator series.

Giving a powerful plasma discharge for treatment, the system is light weight and can be mounted easily in any orientation.

Most commonly used with automation such as robot mounting or on rotary tables, the OEM model is controlled via a simple 24v I/O link which connects easily to any control PLC or simple switch systems.

This version is also popular for extrusion and moving part lines with a static nozzle.

PlasmaTEC-X Multi

The PlasmaTEC-X Multi series starts with a single nozzle similar to the PlasmaTEC OEM system, however with the addition of a HMI control screen you can set parameters, view running hours, troubleshoot and control the system locally.

A single HMI can control up to 8 nozzles and while you can control them using the connected HMI, you can also connect to each generator and control them individually using their own I/O system, remotely viewing their system information on screen.

These systems work really well for multiple nozzle lines or for lines close together with a central control point.

PlasmaTEC-X UR

Tantec have worked closely with automation and collaborative robot manufacturer Universal Robots to become a certified UR+ partner. The PlasmaTEC-X UR interfaces with the robot with a simple plug and play set up, coming with the required brackets and supports to install the Plasma head to the robot.

Collaborative robots make for easy installations with simple to program and use software and hardware. As with the PlasmaTEC-X and OEM versions, the highly efficient plasma treatment can run at high speeds, perfectly controlled by a Universal Robot.

SpinTEC 30

SpinTEC 30 is the latest in the PlasmaTEC range which gives a high speed, 30mm wide plasma treatment which is more gentle, and more cost effective than using multiple single nozzles.

The SpinTEC 30 is a light weight, easy to automate system which is built on tried and tested PlasmaTEC technology, with common, quick change parts for easy use and maintenance.

SpinTEC

Tantec UK & Ireland’s SpinTEC machines utilise the same systems as the PlasmaTEC-X Multi, however, it has a dual plasma head that rotates at high speeds of up to 1000 rpm, whilst providing treatment widths of between 40mm and 150mm. Of course, these treatment widths are able to be customised in order to fit our client’s treatment requirements.

Our SpinTEC systems are often used when looking for extra width for 3D components or when Corona Treatment Systems are not appropriate.

Custom Plasma Systems

Using Atmospheric Plasma might mean integrating into an existing line or you may have the need to have the system fully enclosed and safe to keep away from operators or other processes.

You might also want the treatment to do something specific such as accurate treatment of a part, or a moving part being presented.

Building around the standard PlasmaTEC-X systems offer a variety of standard and custom built machines such as the ProfileTEC which is a self contained, fully CE marked machine that monitors line speed and treats parts as they pass through the machine.

ZeroNOxTEC

ZeroNOxTEC is a filtration system for any of the Atmospheric Plasma systems and works by creating the ideal gas mixture from compressed air to supply the plasma nozzles.

This offers benefits in two key ways:

NOx gases which are created by all plasma nozzles are removed, making the system safer and removing the need for extraction or health considerations.

Treatment can also be more powerful and offer performance improvements over the standard machines without any other upgrades required.
